Improving Mindat.orgPotD is not scoria

15th Sep 2019 01:26 BSTTony Peterson Expert

The specimen depicted may be a welded lithic tuff - it appears to have several types of fragment within it - but is not a piece of scoria, which is a frothy bit of aphanitic basalt either as a flowtop feature, or a bomb.

I agree with Tony.

Agreed, message sent and changed to Tuff , not sure about being welded, as it’s quite porous, but probably vitric and andesitic.

There is a bug in that the title of a POTD remains unchanged after editing, on the Front Page.

15th Sep 2019 13:47 BSTChester S. Lemanski, Jr. Manager

It's changed now.
