This example and your other similar example, in the background, and in your other posting, both look like chert/chalcedony concretions or nodules from a sedimentary environment.  Basically this limestone has locally become silicified (infused with quartz) forming the nodules and becoming more resistant than the limestone so they remain after the surrounding limestone has weathered away.    CHEERS.....BOB
