Field CollectingCollecting and bringing back minerals from Cuba.

2nd Sep 2018 01:48 UTCNick Morales

I have been searching web sites for information on collecting/purchasing minerals in Cuba. I am planning a trip to Cuba soon and need some help from the international collectors regarding this topic. There is little information about collecting in Cuba and less about any or if there are restrictions on bringing back minerals through US Customs. There are certainly prohibitions on the sale of minerals from Cuba, but my needs are for collecting for my personal collection and for study/research on any specimens I am able to bring back.

Any help would be welcomed.

Hi Nick,

Not sure about the collecting specimens part. I wouldn't take anybody's word about the bringing back part. I always check with US Customs to see what restrictions there are on what I can bring back before I travel abroad. The rules are always changing and they never bother to inform us.
