LocalitiesAust-Agder, Norway

11th Feb 2020 16:00 UTCUwe Kolitsch Manager

Aust-Agder ([ˈæ̂ʉstˌɑɡdər] (About this soundlisten), English: East Agder) was one 18 counties (fylker) in Norway up to 1 January 2020, when it was merged with Vest-Agder to form Agder county.

(From Wikipedia.) Someone feel free to update this.

I believe there are only 11 counties left now...

Yes, some of the counties in Norway were merged into new counties the  1.1. 2020 (Telemark + Vestfold => Telemark-Vestfold; Østfold + Akershus, Buskerud  => Viken;  Aust-Agder  + Vest-Agder
=> Agder;  Finnmark + Troms=> Finnmark og Troms; Hordaland+ Sogn og Fjordane=> Vestlandet and Hedmark + Oppland=> Innlandet.
These mergers are not popular , and it might in some cases be reversed.

It will be updated later as a part of the current work on systematically going through and update every  one of Norwegian localities. The old counties need to be kept though as "landscapes" like done in the case of the Swedish hierarchy in Mindat.
