Identity HelpOrange spots in Sugilite?

This tumble is really lovely with the purple of sugilite, a little pink bustamite, a large area of Richterite (seen in pic), a few manganese veins and then.........this orange stuff..........it does add some really pretty contrast to the piece but.......what the heck is it? :)  Thanks!!

Hello Kristi,

Identifying minerals accurately from a photo is always a bit subjective and in a polished specimen such as yours, even more so. I can suggest that the orange material might be andradite garnet. This does occasionally occur in massive form with the sugilite. That's my educated guess.

Thanks Bruce! I did read another post where they said maybe hematite? I even thought about cuprite but like you said....subjective :) I do appreciate your post!! Gives me another idea!
