Educationvaesite, sticks or not?

28th Mar 2018 08:32 UTCGiuliano Bettini

Good morning.

Help!

Please, I have a question that I am unable to answer, and about which I can not find data on the Internet. It's about vaesite, and whether it's magnetic or not.

Namely, very simply:

it sticks to a magnet, or not?

If someone can help me ....

Thank you,

Giuliano.

I haven't tried it but, since its iron analogue - pyrite - is not magnetic, I wouldn't expect vaesite to be either.

Cattierite the cobalt analogue is not magnetic so I would not expect the Ni equivalent to be either.

Thanks Alfredo, thanks Reiner,

yes, me too, but after that I read:

1 Vaesite is anti-ferro- magnetic;

2 Does Anti-ferromagnetic material get attracted to magnetic materials?

No-yes-don't know-sometimes-never-it depends.

So my question.

Antiferromagnetic materials have no net magnetization and will not stick to a magnet.
