Improving Mindat.orgpost-ming minerals

16th Nov 2017 14:19 UTCNorman King 🌟 Expert

Today I happened upon what appears to be a misspelling error in manual.mindat.org. I thought I would see if I have any privileges in the manual by trying to fix that error. I logged in and selected add/edit data and then The Mindat Manual. I got a page saying that the page was not secure and that attackers might be able to steal all sorts of information from me if I went on to that page. I do not know how to correct that situation. Now I cannot find where I was to see that error!

So, this is what I interpret as an error: There is a page in the manual where the status of minerals is discussed. One status is that a mineral has only been in existence since the advent of mining. These are called post-mining minerals. That choice is shown in boldface as post-ming minerals. I really think that should be as I just said, post-mining minerals. It has nothing to do with a Chinese dynasty.

Norman,

The security issue is from trying to access the old manual. The updated manual is now accessed at https://www.mindat.org/a/mindatmanual

I found the typo you mentioned and have corrected it - thanks for the diligence!
