Improving Mindat.orgHaiweeite locality mistake

4th Apr 2018 02:12 UTCReynaldo Contreira Expert

Dear all,

I have identified a locality mistake on several Haiweeite pictures in the database.

All Haiweeite pictures coming from Perus, Sao Paulo shall be considered highly suspicious. The probable location for these samples is Teofilo Otoni, Minas Gerais (more precisely from Perdido claim).

Haiweeite crystals from Perus have a much lower quality compared with the ones presented at mindat - my opinion is shared by Daniel Atencio from Sao Paulo university, who have studied Perus minerals since long time.

Just an example, the pictures showing dark Fluorite crystals in combination with Haiweeite are clearly from Teofilo Otoni (for instance: https://www.mindat.org/photo-365662.html).

Please correct them.

Thank you and best regards,

Reynaldo

"Perdido claim" seems to be missing on Mindat - can you add it?
