Article under construction:

Can you help make this a better article? What good localities have we missed? Can you supply pictures of better specimens than those we show here? Can you give us more and better information about the specimens from these localities? Can you supply better geological or historical information on these localities? After each set of pictures there should be some descriptive text. If none appears it means that we need someone to tell us about the specimens from that locality and something about the geology of the occurrence.

ZnS, Isometric

Sphalerite, Dolomite & Quartz, Kosovo, 5.5cm wide

Sphalerite can be black like its fellow sulfides, but also one of the most beautiful of gems, with a very high index of refractiion.

One of the better sphalerite specimens from Mogul mine, Ireland. Full details on the link to photo gallery. Sphalerite Ireland Mogul Mine

Another sphalerite. We need a sphalerite thread/page, but until you have one I'll post here and see what you do with them. This one of my favorites, from Trepca, Kosovo. I have another with virtually all twins.Sphalerite Dolomite Quartz Trepca Kosovo

Of course we should include some Lengenbach stuff. I don't know when I or someone else will get around to working on sphalerite but those should definitely be included. I am currently in the process of photoshoping twenty or thirty sphalerites from various localities, that I should begin uploading with a whole hoard or other images in the not too distant future.
