[Gadolinite-(Ce)] Metamict crystal identified by XRD after annealing at 700° for 48 hours by John Attard, 12Dec08. Results indicated a distinct match to type material from the Oslo, Norway area as reported by Segalstad and Larsen, American Mineralogist, V 63, 1973, "Gadolinite-(Ce) from Skien, southwestern Oslo region, Norway." Over forty EDS spectra accomplished by Saul Krotki, with John Attard and Bart Cannon, confirm the cerium dominant species differing from previously reported yttrium dominant species from WA Pass. Here only the outermost skins of the crystals are yttrium dominant.
