This mineral was originally described as sodic-ferripedrizite by Oberti et.al.(2000) and ferripedrizite (IMA No. 2001-032) by Caballero et.al (2002). It was renamed to sodic-ferripedrizite in the 2003 revision of the amphibole nomenclature. It was again renamed to ferri-pedrizite in the 2012 amphibole nomenclature.
