Crystal System:
A synthetic compound. MgTi2O5 with the structure of pseudobrookite. A component in orthorhombic oxide solid solutions, R2+Ti2O5-R3+2TiO5, which are present as accessory minerals in lunar and terrestrial rocks.

The name "karrooite" was first proposed by von Knorring & Cox (1961) for the synthetic product MgTi2O5.
