Name:
This mineral (IMA 2009-034) was originally named ferro-obertiite (Hawthorne et.al 2010). It was redefined in the 2012 amphibole nomenclature, and is now named ferro-ferri-obertiite. The root name is for Roberta Oberti, professor at the University of Pavia, Italy, and an expert on the crystal chemisry of amphiboles.
