Name:
Sm-dominant member of the florencite group. The florencite root name is for Dr. William Florence (1864-1942), Brazilian mineralogist who made a preliminary chemical examination of what is now called florencite-(Ce).
Sm-analogue of Florencite-(Ce) and waylandite. Unique combination of elements. Second samarium-dominant mineral after monazite-(Sm).
