Mid-ocean-ridge basalt

A variety of low Ti, low-K tholeiitic basalt. MORB (mid-ocean ridge basalt) is the most abundant volcanic rock type, it makes up much of the upper oceanic crust. The dominant basalts in Island arc and continental tholeiites are less mafic and more siliceous than MORB.
