Name:
Named for Kangjinla, the district in which the chromitite orebody Cr-11, the type locality, is located.
Chemically similar to zhiqinite and, to some extent, wenjiite, zangboite, UM1989-10-E:FeSiTi, and 'Unnamed (Fe-Si-Ti Alloy)'.

Isostructural with synthetic Ho11Ge10.
