Named after two prominent Russian geologists, Viktor Sergeevitch Shibkov (Виктора Сергеевича Шибкова) (1926-1992) and Nikolai Viktorovitch Shibkov (Николая Викторовича Шибкова) (1951-1991), who both spent their professional lives working on the geology of Soviet Asia.
Osumilite Group. A possibly related mineral is known as UM1990-73-SiO:KMnNaZn.
