A synonym of Chrome-Spinel (of Dana)
Strictly, a Cr-bearing variety of spinel containing a (mostly large) proportion of Cr in substitution for Al. Also used informally for any Cr-rich mineral in the spinel group, e.g. chromite, magnesiochromite.
