A variety of Vesuvianite

A vesuvianite with chromium replacing some of the aluminium in its chemical composition. Most chrome-vesuvianites have Cr2O3 contents below 1 wt.-%, but in a few occasions, much higher contents were determined. The chrome-vesuvianites found as inclusions in diposide in rodingite veins cutting serpentinites in a chromium deposit in Xinjiang, China have Cr2O3 contents up to 6.21 wt.-% and contain up to 7.43 wt.-% of TiO2 at the same time (Kobayashi and Kaneda, 2010). These are the highest Cr and Ti contents ever reported in vesuvianites.
