Named in 1969 by C. Gaudefroy, M. Orliac, F. Permingeat, and A. Parfenoff, in honor of Henri François Émile Termier (13 December 1897, Lyon, France - 12 August 1989, Gif sur Yvette, France), geologist known for his studies of the stratigraphy and paleontology of North Africa and France. He was, for a time, head of the Morocco Geological Service and later, professor at the University of Algiers and the Sorbonne.

General Appearance of Type Material:
Aggregates of small grains up to 0.5 mm; mostly about 0.2 mm in diameter, filling interstices between crystals of marokite, hausmannite, and rare gaudefroyite.
