Colour:
Pale honey-yellow, colourless to white, pale orange
Lustre:
Vitreous
Hardness:
3 - 4
Specific Gravity:

Crystal System:
Orthorhombic
Member of:
Name:
Named in 2004 by Andrew M. McDonald and George Y. Chao in honor of Canadian mineral collector and mineral dealer Gilles Haineault [June 16, 1946 - ], prolific collector and authority on the minerals of Mont Saint-Hilaire.
The structure of haineaultite contains double dreier chains of SiO4 tetrahedra, which are linked by Ti cations into a three-dimensional framework. A topologically identical framework is found in the structures of chivruaiite, zorite (the Na-analogue of haineaultite) and the synthetic zorite analogue ETS-4 (Men'shikov et al., 2006).
