Name:
The name is derived from its composition: yttrium (Y), fluorine (F), titanium (Ti) and silicon (Si).
Originally reported from El'ozero REE occurrence, Western Keivy Massif, Kola Peninsula, Murmanskaja Oblast', Russia and Verkhnee Espe Massif, Tarbagatai Range, Semipalatinsk Oblysy, Kazakhstan.
A discredited mineral, but apparently valid since a crystal-structure determination was reported (Balko & Bakakin, 1975).
Identical to the later described mieite-(Y).
