Named in honor of Petr Nikolaevich Chirvinsky (Пётр Никола́евич Чирви́нский) (26 January (7 February) 1880, Moscow, Russian Empire - 21 June 1955, Molotov, USSR), geologist and petrographer, head of the Petrography Department of the Perm State University (1943–1953), for his contributions to mineralogy and petrology, including studies of the Khibiny alkaline massif.
Type Locality:
New structure type. Chemically somewhat similar to nafertisite, narsarsukite, and selivanovite. wöhlerite–related zirconotitano–sorosilicate.
