Strangles Beach, Crackington Haven, St Gennys, Cornwall, England, UK

View looking towards the arch at the North End of the beach. The cliffs here, the highest in Cornwall, are heavily folded and contain numerous veins of white quartz. The arch in the distance, known as Northern Door, is formed from the edge of one such fold.

Interesting second generation baryte crystal cluster on calcite with pyrite/marcasite inclusions from a water filled septarian nodule of Jurassic origin.

Left of centre towards edge of photo, is an interesting pyrite/marcasite feature which appears to be totally flat on one side and botryoidal on the other. The child photos show this in more detail.
