Development Work July 13, 2017

Tamminen Quarry, Greenwood, Oxford Co., Maine, USA

Spoke to the excavator operator for a few minutes, and he said that Frank Perham had been working Noyes Mountain the weekend before and he found a big pocket of Smokey Quartz, and nearly covered the back of his truck with them.

It also looks like they stirred the piles and dug out some debris from the big pit at the Waisanen.

Happy Hunting! Always be aware when work is occurring on-site. I would say the top of the cut would not be a very safe place to collect until they are done their work.

Black Mountain Quarry, Rumford, Oxford Co., Maine, USA

This rock was collected at this locale I believe. This rock was gifted to me by the miner's wife, Phyllis Quinn.

She wasn't sure, but believed her husband had mined this with Frank Perham in Rumford in the late 70's or early 80's.
