As I write this, I have come to the realization that my mineral collecting activities span more than 50 years- a half a century! Field collecting has always been my passion and has complemented my career as a geologist. One thing for sure, new and exciting mineral localities are a rare occurance. I am thankful, that at the age of 70 I have my health and can still use that pry bar, pick, and shovel. I wonder how long my stamina will last- hiking 10 miles over wet snow at 7,000' above sea level got me pretty exhausted last month. All I can say to younger collectors, keep up your curiousity about the earth around you, stay healthy, and stay in shape. The rewards will be there.
