Friends of the Mineralogical-Geological Museum, or GMV (Geologisk Museums Venneforening in Norwegian) is mainly a supporting organization for the Mineralogical/Geological Department of the Natural History Museum in Oslo, Norway. It consists of approx. 50 people who all have geology and mineralogy as a hobby and who are also interested in the scientific side of mineralogy and geology. The members live scattered throughout Norway. Our interest has linked us to the Mineralogical-Geological Museum in Oslo.
GMVs objective is to work for a closer cooperation between the mineralogical department and the amateur geological community in Norway, and to raise money for the completion and upgrading of the mineralogical department's collections and exhibitions.
Since it's start in 1980 GMV has sponsored the purchase of minerals for about 300 000 euros, or about 2.3 million NKR.
GMV is an open association. Anyone who wants, can become a member.
