I live in Scotland and have been a collector of minerals since I was a child (an interest sparked by my mother who herself collected during her childhood in mineral-rich South Africa).

I have a Degree in Computing Science (2008) and after a few different jobs, and working abroad, I returned to Scotland and decided to finally realise my dream of starting a small business in minerals (I am 'Birkhill Minerals' on MinFind).

Mineral collecting is a hobby that connects people around the globe, and is such a massive discipline, that there is always something to learn and now for me, what used to be a hobby, has become an integral part of my every day life and I hope to share experiences with other collectors and dealers.

Always happy to hear from anybody from anywhere who enjoys the hobby.
It is difficult for me to choose a favourite species or locality, but I do enjoy seeing minerals from older collections and from Scotland, Ireland, Cumbria and Yorkshire in England.

I also love photography, travel, nature, chatting to friends around the world and am a complete tea fanatic so if anybody in the world is a mineral collector AND a tea fanatic, please send me a message!
