Welcome on my Mindat page dedicated mostly to minerals from Slovakia!

In the past I was employed as assistant at the Department of Mineralogy and Petrology, Comenius University in the capital of Slovak Republic, Bratislava. I received both MSc. and PhD. there. My research is focused primarilly on supergene minerals and sulfosalts. I discovered and authored or co-authored seven new minerals from Slovakia: fluorarrojadite-(BaNa), fluorapophyllite-(NH4), argentotetrahedrite-(Zn), dobšináite, argentopolybasite, tetrahedrite-(Cu) and recently also ferriandrosite-(Ce). Since January 2016 I'm member of CNMNC IMA and since January 2017 I left Comenius University and joined team of Crystal Classics Fine Minerals Ltd./UK Mining Ventures Ltd. as a geologist for specimen mining projects. I'm currently working as a researcher at the Earth Science Institute of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava, Slovakia.
I collected only minerals from the territory of Slovak Republic with the emphasis on fine classics and some species (like various supergene minerals, sulfosalts etc.) or specific localities (especially Ľubietová, Špania Dolina, Dúbrava, Gemerská Poloma, Hodruša-Hámre, Hnúšťa, Pernek, Poniky, Novoveská Huta, Maglovec or Vechec). The Slovak suite is large (over 1300 specimens, including around 800 self collected pieces). Recently I decided to build also small subcollection of solely self collected pieces from the worldwide localities (e.g. minerals from Volodarsk-Volynskii, Ukraine). Here I present mostly pictures of specimens from my species collection or research activities as well as photos of various localities, which I had a chance to visit.
You can find and read some of my publications here: https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Martin_Stevko2
I'm always interested to obtain fine specimens from Slovakia for my collection so do not hesitate to contact me if you have any interesting specimens from Slovakia!
Best wishes

Martin
