“Lytodiscoides conduciensis (Choffat, 1902).
Giant ammonites (each one 50/60 cm wide) from Baía da Condúcia, Mozambique.
Part of a large set, these ammonites were sent from Mozambique in 1900 to the Geological Survey of Portugal. They were studied by P. Choffat, a geologist at the Geological Survey, who published a monograph (1) that describes these ammonites, finding two unknown species and two varities new to science.
These ammonites belong to a large collection stored in the Geological Museum of Lisbon.
