Description
This locality is best known for its amazing sulfide specimens (mainly Galena, Sphalerite, Chalcopyrite), but the Calcites are not only few and far between, but they're often dull, white and and without excellent crystal form. In the past they certainly have not shown the wonderful crystal habit and beautiful color seen in this piece. These are arguably the finest examples of Mn-bearing Calcite that we've seen from this mine. We literally just picked this piece up in Tucson, and it's one of the most colorful and aesthetic Calcites that we've seen from Krushev Dol. I was told that it came from a pocket that was discovered just before the Tucson Show, and only a handful of pieces were found. ATTENTION CALCITE collectors! This gorgeous manganoan baby pink color group of beautifully stepped "dogtooth"-shaped crystals with a gentle but NOTABLE vitreous / satiny luster resembles a forest of cotton candy trees. No real damage (outside of the periphery) to speak of and just beautiful in person. If you collect Calcites, you can't miss out on this one, as it may be from a one time find.
