"Iron-cross" pyrite twin from permian Gröden (Val Gardena) formation; 4mm, slightly oxidised, from jan-2008 find.
Zircon crystal from permian sands in pyrite strata with churchite-Y moulds; width of the picture 264um
Small crystals of second generation calcite from a small vug in silicified concretion from clay strata. Also some pyrite crystals embedded in quartz matrix is visible at the top of the specimen. Collected in 2008 during pyrite occurrence at Katarina Mt. research is a good example for mineralogical sequence determination. Size of specimen is 5×4 ...

Small patch of galena (white) on twinned pyrite crystal. Change in contrast on pyrite surface is due to surface oxidation. Photo from Jeol JEM-5800, BSE image
The contact between upper-permian Val Gardena formation and lower-triassic dolomite. Location for pyrite is in the woods on the left side of the picture.
Location photo from very unstable and very small airplane... Pyrite locality is on the ridge on left side of picture, in upper right corner capital city - Ljubljana - can be seen.
