Large Hematite Boulders
Fairbank, Cochise County, Arizona, USA
Black, multi ton hematite boulders used to control erosion at one of the washes that went under the Fairbank to Tombstone railroad bed. The old bridge had rotted away. The hematite had many sections of the multi colored turgite but even with a 12 pound sledge hammer the material was very hard to break. Rolf Luetcke photo.
