“Small but perfectly formed and beautifully transparent weloganite crystals rising from a matrix rich in pale, tufty dresserite. The image was created with CombineZM, and required a two-step stacking technique to overcome fuzziness in low-contrast areas, particularly on the flat pinacoid faces of the weloganites.
NOTE ADDED IN 2014: the unfortunately named 'two-step technique' has been developed into a stacking algorithm now termed 'pyramid stacking' which is available in current programs, and the problem with low-contrast areas would be resolved by touchup procedures.”
