From an exciting new find: pistachio green pseudomorphs of epidote replacing orthoclase crystals! This specimen features a sharp replacement of a single orthoclase crystal. There is some damage, including a missing chunk on the bottom front corner. While this type of alteration is not unusual, we are unaware of any other worldwide locality that has produced large, euhedral pseudomorphs like these. Collected by Phil Simmons and Erin Delventhal in November of 2020. XRD analysis of this material has pointed towards an undetermined range within the epidote-clinozoisite solution series, as well as the presence of orthoclase, sanidine, and adularia in samples that were not replaced.
