Cluster of radiating, bladed, gypsum crystals, collected in the early 1980's from clay-rich Eocene sediments in rural King George County, Virginia. These gypsum crystals are fluorescent under UV and are also phosphorescent. The upper image shows bright blue/white fluorescence under short wave UV; the lower image was taken under visible light.
