Yazd Province, Iran

A 19 mm wide specimen of parabutlerite from the mines in the Yazd region consisting of dark orange crystals on top of a polycrystalline matrix. Identification confirmed by chemical analysis, optical properties, crystal morphology, and single-crystal X-ray cell parameters.

Cerussite twin. Rock Currier collection #3514 (1978). Bought this specimen at the mine from a bag of crystal fragments. I was told that someone in Terran had a specimen that weighed more than 5kg. Over the years this mine must have produced many fine specimens, but almost all of them went to the crusher.

Klehwa Collection Beautiful cluster of Wulfenite crystals in very intense orange color from a recent find. The first Wulfenite generation on this specimen are thin tabular crystals measuring up to 28mm. They are partly covered by white Calcite and a second generation of Wulfenite with thick skeletal faces.
