Western ore field, Mittersill Scheelite deposit, Mittersill, Zell am See District, Salzburg, Austria

This specimen is for the Felber valley really untypical. First of all the Scheelite is orange, normally Scheelite occours in grey "spots". Secondly, the Scheelite is really well terminated. At last, the Scheelite crystal is not in Quartz-Matrix. Photo and Collection of Martin Slama

This specimen contains different Pb-Bi-S minerals which seems to be the same. Three prismatic crystal fragments were analysed and three minerals were identified, so it is possible that there are even more rare Pb-Bi-S minerals on it. In the middle of the picture there is a blackish grain of sphalerite with reddish internal reflections. I have been often to the Felber alley and in all the years I have only found one specimen with sphalerite. In my mind sphalerite is really rare in the Western ore field. Self-Collected in 2007. 1 cm field of view. Tentatively identified as lillianite, in prismatic metallic flakes. S409-130 Not certain this is lillianite, could be a mixture containing inclusions of any number of Pb-Bi-Cu sulfosalt minerals, or maybe cosalite, or maybe a series with gustavite. Gunnar Farber specimen.
