Sandy Hook gold mine, Sandy Hook, Newtown, Fairfield County, Connecticut, USA
Just downstream from the mine is a early 19th century excavation for "coal", which must have been inspired by some graphite in the Rowe Schist.

Sign on the west side of the derelict bridge over the Pootatuck River near the stream that leads up to the mine.
The remnants of Black Bridge near the mine, built in late 19th century, now foot traffic only.
View upstream of the small arch hosting the remnants of the 1-meter-wide hydrothermal quartz vein hosting minor sulfides.
Only the top center of the arch includes the remnants of the vertical quartz vein, the sides are Rowe Schist. The moss-covered outcrop behind it may be a continuation. The stream flows under the arch.
The small arch constituting the visible part of Blackwell's Mine looks pretty much the same here in 1985 as it does in 2021. Of course, it probably hasn't changed much at all since at least Shepard's report of 1837...
