Pink Strengite crystals with yellow Cacoxenite crystals. Field of view 12 mm. Collection M. Kampf No 89-113.

This attractive miniature of these two phosphate species is covered with balls of lavender strengite to 4 mm and rockbridgeite to 2 mm. The crystal structure of both species is readily visible under magnification. The balls are incomplete at the edges of the specimen; otherwise it is undamaged. Ex. Sparkling violet coloured balls of Strengite, an Iron Phosphate, have grown in a cavity in a Goethite/Martite matrix. A gorgeous miniature with high quality and good relief both - a rare combination. The strengite (purple) is of extremely high quality and size for the material (to 6 mm). Purple strengite with minor olive green ferroberaunite and lime green kidwellite from the Leveäniemi Mine, Sweden. The strengite has crystallized atop a matrix of ferroberaunite. The spherical Strengite crystal aggregates are attached to the hollow in the matrix. The color is purple. According to my understanding, this is the classical and rare mineral from the classical and rare locality. I don't have any records of when I acquired this specimen, but it was so long time ago.

Several 0.4 cm, bright lavender half-spheroids of Strengite are scattered across the surface of a matrix covered with dark red-brown, vitreous luster Bermanite. Scattered, dark green, flattened micro spheroids of Rockbridgeite are associated. The base of the specimen is composed of massive black Magnetite. Personal collection of Sharon Cisneros.
