Only a few small pockets were found, over 20 years ago now, of these world's-best veszelyite crystals at this small copper mine in Montana. Now shut, there is no hope of more, either. Today, choice thumbnails seldom turn up for sale, generally only as old collections are dispersed. This is an exceptional sharp crystal with deep, riveting color and ...

Veszelyite

Black Pine Mine, Philipsburg Mining District, Granite County, Montana, USA

Several well-formed veszelyite crystals on a very thin matrix crust. The veszelyite displays a deep blue-green color and some degree of translucency. Native Silver

Black Pine Mine, Philipsburg Mining District, Granite County, Montana, USA

Emanating from a gnarled matrix of silver is a single, curving, arched filament of wire silver; possibly the thinnest silver wire I have ever seen by the time it terminates so elegantly. It greatly resembles the filament in a light bulb. However, its not as fragile as this all sounds! It is a rare locality piece, from this famous and long-defunct ...

Beautiful twin with superb habit and very attractive drusy surface. The crystal is so sharp that, if you follow the twinning plane down, there is an extremely attractive little triangular face right at the base of the plane. It is barely visible in the photos because of the lighting angles, but it stands out beautifully in person. Just a contact ...

Stolzite, Quartz, Hübnerite

Black Pine Mine, Philipsburg Mining District, Granite County, Montana, USA

A curious crystal of hubnerite, replaced by parallel stolzite crystals pseudomorphously, with associated quartz. While all stolzite from the Black Pine Mine is intimately associated with hubnerite, the latter most often corroded or etched; examples from this singular pocket are the only true pseudomorphs after hubnerite, perhaps from anywhere. The ...
