Taken with a Samsung Digital 27mm. The specimen measures 2 1/4 by 2 1/4 inches and has nice crystal formation on at least 5 crystals. The largest crystal measures 5/8 inch. The matrix is specular hematite. Date found was 12-08-2012
Jamison Mine, Franklin Township, Dent County, Missouri, USA
This specimen was collected January 4, 2014 from the dumps of this long-closed circa 1870's iron mine.

Iron stained quartz crystals are on a hematite-bearing matrix. There are some blemishes to the quartz crystals, but if I laid on a mine dump for over 100 years I would also show some wear! This specimen was collected by me on February 25, 2024.
