A black, 1,5 mm christofschäferite-(Ce) crystal in clear sanidine with a brownish-red grain of rhodonite. The specimen was collected by Christof Schäfer. 43 exposures with Nikon D800E on a Nikon bellows fitted with a Mitutoyo 10x objective. Collection and photo: OT. Ljøstad.

Just as the first Aragonite picture of december 17/2006, I have found these specie at the same point in the Quarry.

Calciopyrochlore covered with small Zircon crystals and associated with Apatite-(CaF) and Magnetite, specimen collected in 1984, field of view 4 mm, collection C.&H. Schäfer

And this is also one of the better shaped pieces of december 17/2006. Needles are up to 25 mm, image width is 68 mm

Found december 17/2006 at a small dump on top of the quarry road which is going to the deeper part of the quarry. The longest needles are up to 20 mm. We have found lots of these Aragonite species in just a half an hour and without tools.

A larger sanadine rich block contained lots of small pyrochlore group crystals. The götzenite (visual ID) is most probably amorphous.

Usually one can only find single crystals, but this piece has a large amount of them. The picture shows the highest concentration of crystals on the specimen, but there are quite a few outside the field of view as well.

I have made this picture in may 2006 on a sunday when I visited the Quarry for a view hours.
