Botryoidal Hematite on Amethyst crystals. The red to black hematite botyroids cover the surface atop amethyst crystals on granite. Small black rod-like crystals to 3mm are seen on the bottom - identity is unknown. David Johnson Collection.

A polished section cut from a stalactite shaped specimen, the central core is a brecciated quartz sealed with a fine grained quartz on to which amethyst crystals and a rim of botryoidal hematite have formed.
