“3.3 x 3.2 x 1.7 cm. This old-time gold is completely crystallized and from the latter half of the 19th century when gold and silver mining was at its apex in this historically important district. It has a matte luster and exquisite crystallization characteristic of the locality, and has not been burned clean to enhance the lustre - it retains its original patina. It is quite possible that this lighter color is the result of a very minor silver content in the specimen. Ex. David and Emily Stoudt Collection.
