“Tourmaline variety verdelite. Mined by Bill Moriarty from Kalgoorlie, somewhere in the Coolgardie area but more exact locations details unknown. Specimen miners are not keen here in giving away location details. Part of a specimen swap with another local miner Fred Rose before being given to me. The matrix is a messy ironstone and quartz with minor mica. On the left of the specimen is verdelite part crystals but the very dark green is difficult to make out against the matrix. On the very far right is a well formed verdelite crystal. I have seen better specimens for the location but you will battle to find them outside of Western Australia.
matrix 12cm x 7cm x 5cm
far right crystal 2cm x 1.5cm ”
