How to Contributedifferent speed in publishing photos of specimens from the same site

23rd Feb 2014 21:51 UTCFranco Luca Bonino

Two weeks ago I uploaded a photo of a specimen of allanite from Tomaino Quarry, Traversella, Italy, and this morning I saw it was still only on my home page (not published). Today I uploaded other photos from the same site (2 chrysocolla, 1 biotite, 1 molybdenite, 1 malachite, other 3 specimens of allanite and 1 specimen of pyrite) I expected to wait for a long time to have them published but, surprise, instead of publishing the photo of 2 weeks ago (I thought there was a queue) it was published (very quickly) the specimen of pyrite that was the last photo I sent. How does it work? Maybe the other minerals have to be controlled with more care while pyrite can be easier confirmed so it was quickly published. The specimens are from the same place so I guess the experts should confirm them easily together even because they are minerals already present in the mineral list. Someone knows how to explain the reason for the different speed in publishing photos? Thanks in advance for your answers.

I'm sure Tucson has a lot to do with the current backup in photo approvals.....

Photos are not necessarily approved in the order in which they are uploaded. It's a manual process carried out by Mindat managers with different areas of interest and different availability of time. Photos that come from an area in which some Mindat manager has an interest or expertise, and which more clearly show the mineral in question, will usually be approved quickly, if the manager responsible for that area is available. If a manager thinks a photo does not unequivocally depict the species in question or come from the locality noted, then he/she may well leave it for future consideration by another person with more familiarity with the material. Some areas of the globe are more quickly and thoroughly reviewed than others. So while we are grateful for all contributions, patience may sometimes be necessary before seeing them published :)-D

Understood...Thanks for the explanation.

After two months all other photos of minerals from Cava Tomaino, Traversella, have been published with the exception of the four photos of allanite-(Ce). Are there problems or concerns in attributing the photos to allanite-(Ce)? I also added a link to a publication about Cava Tomaino with photographs of minerals including allanite-(Ce)...identical crystals are shown in the museum's collection of Traversella mine...

Ooops I've just seen that the photos have been published (I guess today because yesterday they were still anavailable). Well now everything is ok!

Today I published 3 photos (two of a sample of prehnite and one of the view of the Tomaino quarry in Traversella, Italy) but even if you published and accepted them something's not working. Missing icon connecting to prehnite photos on mineral list and the view of the cave does,t appear....

Cache needed to be cleared.
Done.
Franco, the cache cleares automatically on a regulary base.
We are all volunteers here and can not do this every time someone asks for it due to the quantity of localities and added pictures.
Just be patient.
Thank you.

I would like to insert a new site called Ajello 3 gallery, Vico Canavese, Valchiusa, Metropolitan City of Turin, Piedmont, Italy. I can also insert data about the publication by mineralogic Valchiusella group talking about this site but I don't know how to insert the new locality. Could you help me?  Thank you!
