Could you delete Items #2734 & 2735. Both were sold on another auction. There is a bid on 2735, chlorite included quartz. May I have the email of the bidder so that I can offer another piece that is very similar?
Is there a way I can delete unsold items so that I don't make this mistake again?
My apologies and thanks.

> In other words, once I've listed a mineral on Mindat, I can't ever list it on Ebay?
of course not!!!
If it's an auction, you can't take it out to sell it to someone else, that is plain common sense when it comes to auctions, you don't screw over your bidders by accepting a better offer from someone who isn't bidding on the auction.
This behaviour will get you banned from ebay or ANY other auction site. I'm genuinely surprised it isn't obvious.
Once the auction has finished, if there is no successful bidder then you are of course free to sell it elsewhere, but NEVER during the course of an active auction.

Jolyon,
I know I shouldn't have listed them at the same time. It was a mistake. I'm not perfect. I'm horrified. Of course you can't delete an active auction. That's not my question. I'd like to delete unsold items so they aren't accidentally reposted after they've been listed at another auction. That's what I did. Yes, it was sloppy and stupid.
Have I made myself clear?

I think it is absolutely needed!!!
I have so many listings in my auction account on mindat that have previously sold that they often confuse me when "relisting" And why is it we cannot see our own "hidden reserve" after posting. Say I have an item that get relisted 6 months after I originally listed it. I have no way of changing or even seeing what my hidden reserve was! And Joylon, Mark made an honest mistake and went to you to correct it, can't we give the guy a little break? Geez!

I have a flat of nearly identical specimens to the chlorite included quartz that was accidentally reposted on Mindat. If I wanted to "screw" the bidder, I could have substituted one and no one would have known the difference. Use of the word "screwing" is pretty inflammatory and another way of calling me dishonest. I intend to "make right" my mistake with the bidder.
I do this auction for fun, not profit. Honestly, I probably make a buck an hour, if that. I had a list of "do not repost" which I lost. I keep the Mindat Auction minerals in some flats and I spent an hour going through them to redo the list. I missed two. That's what happened.

Mark,
It was unclear from your original message what happened - it seemed you had listed the specimen concurrently on both mindat and another auction site deliberately (because you claim this is what other sellers do). This behaviour is what I condemn.
However, you now say this was an accidental reposting of the auction after it had previously failed to sell on mindat - and this is a very different thing - and although I can certainly suggest taking more care to ensure you only relist items you still have for sale, I understand accidents do happen.
As for the current auctions, I can't give you the email address of the current highest bidder, but you should let the auction with a bid run its course and then, whoever is the highest bidder at the time should be contacted and the situation explained. Luckily as you have alternative material this should not be a big issue.
I have deleted the auction with zero bids.

Joylon, I have had "Buyers" here on mindat not pay and not contact me for a reason for the lack of payment. There is no clear way to deal with this problem here on mindat and from speaking with Mark it is clear he has had the same issue. We have no way of contacting a bidder untill the auction has ended and they have met the reserve. There is no way for us to delete unsold items that are not active once we sell them elsewhere. There is no way to confront a winner that has won an item and refused payment or just declined ot contact us. Any other auction site these things would be possible. Now if the truth be known many of the sellers I have spoken too only list on here for we appreciate what mindat is and we have thought that perhaps our minerals would likewise be appreciated by the mindat public. For some of us ebay is our bread and butter as far as online sales. We get more for our specimens and sell more easily there then here. I am a gem and specimen miner and I sell at gem and mineral shows all over my region. At a show I generally get 4-5 times what I ask for on this site. Hell I sell more off facebook in a month then I do in 2 years here. My wish is to see Mindat Auctions actually become more user friendly and become more popular. On my part I have contacted other dealers to try to get them to list on mindat.
