Field CollectingWalker valley geode/ blue agate sites.

I already know about the location of the large rock quarry that has smaller geode and jade deposites. However, I was wondering if there was a better site to hunt. I have read other articles where people have found blue agate deposites as well as some amethyst. In the past I have had some luck finding some nice jade, but the geodes have typically been quite small. If anyone has additional information it would be very much appreciated.

I went to the "Fly By Night" Claim there a couple of times....I didn't find the blue "agate" there but did pick up some nice leaf prints. I'm planning on hitting the Walker valley area this summer...but for the jade not the geodes. I do know someone with really good info on the area, but he hasn't been online for a while...he is a Mindater...but haven't heard from him since the last WSMC meeting. Hopefully he'll chime in. i would love to see some pics of your Washington State jade collection though :-)

The blue agate was found in the quarry north of the ORV site; DNR detonated it a few years back. There was also large quartz pockets; some with amethyst. Last I heard, you could still find pieces in the rubble if the state hasn't hauled it of. Uphill from the quarry is another outcropping where they dig out nodules of sagenite agate.

I would be interested in learning where! I noticed most of the posts on this thread are old except your response -

Where is the outcropping for the sagenite agate? I have looked all over the place and can't find it to save my life. Also, how do you dig the sagenite out? I have just kind of been poking around the top couple inches I guess, but I don't even know what exactly I am looking for, because even though I've seen pics of sagenite agate; I don't know what it looks like freshly dug and I don't know if it's found in loose dirt or hard rock?

I am new to this site but an old hand at cracking rock in the pit. I ran into a pocket of Sagenite with calcite blades in the mineral council pit above the road. It was not as an agate inclusion though. If I find the pictures I will post them. I had to split some rock to find a pocket of it, but it was quite identifiable. The blades are quite fragile.

Theus, I would be interested in the fly by nite claim as well. I am a little confuse on where it is, S-SW of the parking area?

My apologies, it wasnt Sagenite. It was a big pocket of geothite.
