Field CollectingWanting to collect various pipestones...
15th Mar 2013 14:24 UTCT.R.
Apparently there are blue, green, black, and red pipestone varieties to be found in South Dakota.
Bluestone is apparently found in the Southern Appalachian mountains.
Salmon alabaster is apparently found in central Colorado.
Green pipestone is apparently found in Wyoming.
Black pipestone is apparently found in the Uinta mountains of Utah and Colorado.
Red pipestone is apparently found in Utah.
If you know of any sites where one is allowed to collect pipestone, or of any other traditional varieties of pipestone, then I'd be very glad to hear of it....
